Brief 2:

A promotional package for a new film, to include a trailer, together with a film magazine front cover, featuring the film and a poster for the film.
Our TRAILER is immediately below. My individual FILM MAGAZINE COVER and individual POSTER are above.
All my RESEARCH and PLANNING follow below that on the main blog roll, in reverse order, starting with the latest first. To present my research and planning, I have used a wide variety of platforms and tools, including Slide Share, Pinterest, Prezi, Piktochart, Emaze, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and more.
My EVALUATION is above under four Pages. Clicking on each tab will show the research and planning that went into my responses to these questions.
To present my responses, I have used the following platforms:

question 1: Video annotations

question 2: Prezi

question 3. Emaze

question 4. Piktochart

We all took responsibility for directing the different shots, deciding the different camera angles and positioning.

I filmed the scene with the French looking props in the kitchen, the close up of auntie's face, the scene with the girl struggling to open the door, and the scene with the bathroom and CCTV camera and the CCTV footage.

We all edited the trailer together as a group, discussing where we should cut certain parts and how to put it together. We also all made the inter titles together, writing down different suggestions to come up with the perfect words to add to the trailer. We wrote the script for the voice over together as a group to bring the trailer together to make sense.

I took responsibility for mostly doing the background music and working on the sound and what will create the biggest impact in the trailer.

CONSTRUCTION: GREEN SCREEN

Today we experimented with a green screen to explore different technologies that we could incorporate while making our film trailer. The Green screen is by Doink, the way it works is by cutting out anything green within the shot. We filmed it on an iPad with a specific app for green screens where we could upload what ever back group photograph we would like to use. We did some practices with some footage take in an old brick house of the girl looking out the window.

PLANNING: FILM POSTER

I looked at different thriller film posters which signal the genre of my film and that could give me some inspiration and ideas for my own film poster and what I could include in it.

One of the reasons I liked the Nerve poster was because it signals the genre of the genre of the film with the striking neon colours which look like a video game and its bold font. The main image of the second Nerve poster especially gave me inspiration as it has the central image of the girl from the film looking uneasy which related to ideas in my trailer.

CONSTRUCTION: SCRIPT AND INTERTITLES

To get some ideas and inspiration for my inter titles I looked at the BBFC website. I looked at several different trailers to study.

Below are the intertiltes in order of appearance.

12 Years a Slave

From Acclaimed Director Steve McQueen

Based On An Extraordinary true story

Regency Enterprises and River Road Entertainment Presents

Chiwetel Ejiofor

Michael Fassbender

Benedict Cumberbatch
Brad Pitt

12 Years A Slave

The intertitles draws attention to the acclaimed directer - Steve Mcqueen who is a prestige and well know person and the audience will want to watch.
Historical story which makes the audience want to learn more about the story.

Hobbit

This year

From the director from the lord of the rings trilogy

Prepare for

The defining moment

Of the middle earth legend

Trading off the appeal from an established brand by mentioning the lord of the rings particularly the audience that likes franchises.

In this intertilte is a hyperbolic quality which intends to impress the audience just how significant and vital this equal in the franchise is, to compel them to view it.

Intertitles For Our Film

The alliteration of the repeated T (Twisted, Trapped, Terrified) used in our intertitles creates emphases. We intend to accompany theses 3 slides with identical sound codes which doubles the impact.

PLANNING: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

For my character in my film trailer entitled Pain Perdu we decided to do a therapy session with the protagonist a year into the future in order to develop her character further.

We got this idea from a most interesting article. In Charlie Sierre's article on the website 'Film Escape', he referred to an inspiring book by the award winning film maker Pen Demsham, 'Riding The Alligator'.He writes about how we can get to know our characters. He writes about how we should think of it like a questionnaire which the characters need to fill out. Instead of the questionnaire we decided to put out protagonist, Molly infant of a therapist as she is such a trouble girl. In our therapy session we asked questions to do with Molly's experience in the house with her auntie, and how she felt about.

PLANNING: AUDIENCE PROFILE

Audiences are often defined by GEARS. G standing for gender. Having looked at the BFI exit polls of the films screened to audiences screened to some 150 people, I noticed that films involving action conventions and moderate levels of violence tended to be skewed towards a male audience.

I think it is likely that my audience will be mostly under 35.

It has been proven by the BFI exit polls that over a 3rd  of audiences say that they decided to see a film  because of an in-cinema trailer. Therefore, I would aim to screen my own film trailer before screenings of the following films: Mother, IT and Annabelle.
