WHO ARE TRAILERS AIMED AT?

Different trailers can have different features which show which kind of audience it is aimed at.

My Life As A Courgette

The first thing you learn about this trailer is that it is a cartoon which usually shows that it is aimed at children, but not always. At the beginning they all seem very happy which is misleading to the trailer as it has more of a serious theme to it as the trailer goes on. The film is like a love story between two children, there is also a sense of violence from the girls guardian as her parents died, this shows that the trailer maybe for a slightly older audience as younger children wouldn't enjoy the seriousness of the film.

Hampstead

This trailer has an older woman as the protagonist which makes us think of an older audience which would enjoy this film, maybe 30-40 year olds. Its a sophisticated film with a bit of comedy which brightens the idea of an older woman starting her life again. The humour would mainly be funny to older women who understands the position of the woman in the film, they can empathise and laugh at the situation.

War of The Planet of The Apes

This trailer is more action based which would attract an audience from about 15 years to about 30, it would mostly attract the male audience as it is all about fighting a war which most female audiences wouldn't enjoy as much. Younger audiences could find the fighting too scary and wouldn't understand the main idea of whats going on in the film. The film is also 1 of many others so it would attract the audience who have seen the previous films and want to see whats happens as the story goes on.
